Google’s Pixel Watch 5 doesn’t seem to be changing much on the outside, and now a new leak hints the inside might stay just as familiar.
A listing spotted on the Google Play Console reportedly names the upcoming watch with the codename “godric.” What stands out more is the chip. The listing points to the same Qualcomm platform Google already used in the Pixel Watch 4, according to 9to5Google.

According to the listing, the chip in question is Qualcomm’s SW5100 platform: four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.7GHz paired with an Adreno 702 GPU at 1GHz. Those numbers match the Pixel Watch 4 exactly.

This is almost certainly the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 2, which launched in July 2025 and currently runs the Pixel Watch 4. Here’s the catch, though: its CPU and GPU are basically the same silicon from the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1, which came out back in 2022. The newer version mostly added satellite messaging, better GPS accuracy, and improved battery efficiency, not more raw power.
Samsung is taking a different path. The Galaxy Watch 9 runs on the newer Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, which gives it a real performance edge. That gap could matter more over time, especially as watchmakers push more AI features that need to run directly on the device instead of the cloud.
There’s another wrinkle. Earlier leaks point to a higher price tag for the Pixel Watch 5 compared to past models. Charging more while keeping the same CPU and GPU is a tough sell, and it raises real questions about how Google plans to keep up on performance and AI down the road.

The bigger jump might actually come from RAM. The listing shows 3GB of memory on the Pixel Watch 5, a step up from the 2GB Google has used on every watch since it entered this market.

That extra memory could give Wear OS 7 and Gemini Intelligence more breathing room for multitasking and running features directly on the device.
The listing also includes an image that lines up with renders leaked earlier, plus a new analog watch face built with Google’s Neural Expressive design style. Google is set to reveal the Pixel Watch 5 on August 12, alongside the Pixel 11 phone lineup.
