Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold isn’t shaping up to be much of an upgrade. Early CAD renders already hinted at this, and now new promotional images shared by Evan Blass through his Leakmail newsletter confirm it. Beyond a new color option and a few small tweaks, this phone looks nearly identical to last year’s model.
The design keeps the same proportions, the same rounded corners, and that odd camera island Google introduced with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
Two stacked camera visors sit on the back, each resembling a separate Pixel camera module. It’s an unusual choice. Instead of looking like one unified design, it looks like two smaller ones pasted together.
If you were hoping for a bigger visual overhaul this generation, these images suggest you’ll be waiting another year.

There’s another issue with Google sticking to that same heavily rounded design across every Pixel model. On the foldable, it doesn’t translate well. The rounded shape leaves noticeable strips of bare metal at the top and bottom edges of the hinge-side bezel.
It’s hard to guess what Google was going for here, but the outcome hasn’t worked for me. It just looks unfinished, like a detail nobody stopped to fix.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold Leak
A minor refresh would sting less if other companies weren’t moving in the opposite direction. Google was actually first to bring a shorter, wider book-style fold to the Western market with the original Pixel Fold.
Now Samsung is following that same shape with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Apple looks set to launch its first foldable with a similar layout too. Google, on the other hand, seems happy to stick with its current design for another year.

Earlier CAD measurements pointed to a thinner body this time around. The phone could drop from 10.8mm to 10.1mm when folded, and from 5.2mm to 4.8mm when unfolded.
Those numbers sound nice on paper, but shaving off a fraction of a millimeter doesn’t really make up for another year of the same look. It’s the same pattern we saw with the Galaxy Z Flip 8, which got a bit slimmer, kept most of its old hardware, and still cost $100 more than before.
That thinner design might come with a trade-off too. Reports suggest the battery could shrink from 5,015mAh to around 4,800mAh. On top of that, the price is expected to go up, possibly reaching 1,999 euros for the base model.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold Color
One bright spot in all this is the Pine color option. It actually looks great. The muted green back pairs nicely with the light gold frame and matching logo, giving the phone some character it would otherwise lack.

You can also spot the new Pixel Glow LED sitting in the upper camera visor, something Google teased earlier. A nice color and a light-up notification feature won’t replace a real redesign, but they’re the two things about this phone that actually feel new.

Chances are, most buyers won’t care much about the design anyway. Gemini Intelligence features will likely be the main selling point for this generation, so the Pixel 11 Pro Fold should still do fine even if it looks nearly the same as last year’s phone.
Still, if people respond well to the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s shape, I would like to see Google revisit the short and wide form factor it started with. The original Pixel Fold was ahead of its time. Now that bigger names in the industry are adopting that same shape, the timing might finally be right for Google to bring it back.
