OnePlus may have pulled out of the US and European markets, but the brand is still very much alive at home in China, and it’s already working on the next flagship. Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station just dropped new details on the OnePlus 16, covering both its design and an updated launch date.
The same tipster had earlier pointed to a September 2026 launch, but the newest leak pushes that to October in China, according to Gizmochina. Beyond China, things get murkier. There’s now real doubt about whether the OnePlus 16 will even reach India, despite India being the company’s biggest market.
What to expect on the OnePlus 16
The OnePlus 16 will apparently keep the same overall look as the OnePlus 15, though the camera housing on the back might shrink down to a smaller square module. On the front, expect a flat 6.78-inch display with thin, even bezels all around.

Earlier leaks pointed to a 185Hz refresh rate, and there’s also word that OnePlus tested a version that hits 240Hz. Either number would blow past the 165Hz display on the OnePlus 15.
The rest of the specs sound just as over the top. The chip could be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, reportedly built on a 2nm process. Multiple leaks have also pointed to a battery close to 9,000mAh. On the camera side, you might get a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom.
Should You Expect OnePlus 16 Outside China?
OnePlus has already made it official that there will be no more new product launches in North America or Europe. Reports point to patent disputes, climbing marketing costs, and stiff competition from Samsung and Google as the main reasons behind the pullback.

If you already own a OnePlus phone, you’re not losing anything. Software updates and warranty support continue as normal. OnePlus also announced that eligible phones will get the option to switch from OxygenOS over to Oppo’s ColorOS through a future update.
India is still in the picture for now, though a recent leak hints the OnePlus 16 might skip the country entirely. None of this is confirmed yet, so treat the new launch date and availability details as leaks, not facts.
