Motorola might be getting ready to compete in the premium smartwatch space. The Mac Observer got exclusive renders of an unannounced device carrying the internal name Moto Watch Ultra, and the design here looks far more serious than what Motorola put out earlier this year with the standard Moto Watch.
The images show a round display wrapped in a numbered bezel, along with a large rotating crown and an extra side button. Motorola also appears to be using a 46mm stainless steel case this time, which should feel noticeably more premium than the aluminum frame on the current Moto Watch.
In the renders, the watch pairs with a black leather-style strap that has red stitching and a matching red lining on the inside. The watch face itself shows steps, activity stats, calories, time, and date.
Moto Watch Ultra Leak hints
Text on the back of the watch confirms built-in GPS, LTE support, IP68 dust and water resistance, and the ability to handle depths up to 50 meters underwater. There’s also a large optical sensor setup on the underside for health and fitness tracking.

LTE is probably the most notable detail here, since it hints that the watch could function more independently without needing a phone nearby at all times. The report doesn’t say yet which software Motorola is planning to use, though.
Right now, Motorola’s current Moto Watch runs on an RTOS-based system instead of Wear OS. RTOS software tends to focus on the basics: fitness tracking, simple notifications, and longer battery life.
Wear OS, on the other hand, gives you a much wider app selection, mobile payments, and tighter integration with Android. Because of that, the current Moto Watch ends up feeling more like a solid fitness tracker than a true smartwatch.
Moto Watch Ultra
Motorola used to be one of the biggest players in Android smartwatches. The original Moto 360 helped make circular displays popular back in 2014, and a second-generation model followed in 2015.

Motorola then walked away from the category entirely in 2016. The Moto 360 name did come back in 2019, but that version was actually built by eBuyNow under license, not by Motorola itself, and it’s still the last Wear OS watch to carry the Moto branding.
If real, the Moto Watch Ultra could mark Motorola stepping back into the premium smartwatch space, putting it in the same conversation as the Apple Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
That said, it’s still too soon to draw any real conclusions here. The renders haven’t been independently confirmed, and Motorola hasn’t said or hinted anything about a watch like this existing, so it’s worth taking this report with some caution for now.
