The Galaxy S27 lineup is still months out, but the first rumor about a price increase is already making the rounds. Tipster kro, posting on X, claims the Galaxy S27 Ultra could cost up to 150,000 won more than its predecessor in South Korea. That works out to roughly $104 more.
A price bump in Korea doesn’t automatically mean the US or other regions will see the exact same increase. Still, this rumor isn’t hard to believe, especially given Samsung’s recent comments about rising component costs.
Galaxy S27 Ultra Price Hike Rumored
Samsung has already said that memory shortages are hurting its mobile business right now, and demand from AI data centers is only pushing component costs higher. The company expects that shortage to get worse through 2027 and stick around into 2028.
RAM isn’t the only issue either. NAND storage prices have been climbing quickly too, and Qualcomm just announced it’s raising chip prices starting September 1. That increase would likely hit the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy, the chip expected to power the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

We are already seeing early signs of this playing out. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is probably the clearest example. It’s nearly identical to the Z Flip 7 in several major areas, including cameras, battery size, and charging speed, yet it launched $100 more expensive.
Per Kro, Samsung appears to be adjusting pricing to protect its margins as costs rise. If memory prices keep climbing, the rest of the Galaxy S27 lineup could see similar cuts elsewhere to offset higher prices.
Galaxy S27 Ultra Upgrade Rumored
A higher price tag is never fun to hear, but the Galaxy S27 Ultra might finally fix a few things people have been asking for.
Recent reports point to a 5,534mAh battery, likely marketed as 5,700mAh. That would be the first real capacity bump for the Ultra line after years stuck at 5,000mAh, and silicon-carbon battery tech could let Samsung fit the bigger cell without making the phone noticeably thicker.

On cameras, rumors point to new 50MP ultrawide and telephoto sensors, plus a 16MP square selfie sensor that can shoot both portrait and landscape without needing to rotate the phone.
There’s also talk that Samsung might rethink the dedicated 3x telephoto lens, though it’s unclear how that would affect zoom levels in between.
None of this is confirmed yet, and the Galaxy S27 Ultra still has a long way to go before launch. I’ll believe these upgrades when they actually show up, but honestly, Samsung may need all of them if it’s planning to raise prices again next year.
If the increase mirrors what happened with the Galaxy Z Flip 8, that would put the Ultra’s starting US price at $1,399.99, though regional pricing and component costs could still shift before its expected early 2027 release.
