Google’s been building out Android’s Find Hub network for a few years now, making it easier to keep tabs on lost phones, tablets, and other gear. But there’s always been one obvious gap, which is that Google never made its own physical tracker. That looks like it’s about to change.
According to 9to5Google, the long-rumored Pixel Tag has finally surfaced. It’s shown up in several online listings, and the report also includes what appears to be the first leaked photo of the device, giving us an early look at Google’s take on something like Apple’s AirTag or Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag.
Google Pixel Tag Doesn’t Look Like Other Tags
Most Bluetooth trackers you can buy stick to a circular or square shape, but the Pixel Tag looks like it’s breaking from that. The leaked image points to an elongated, pill-shaped body that already looks different from everything else out there.
What’s interesting is that the design also seems to skip any built-in hole or loop for attaching it to keys, luggage, or a backpack. If that holds, Google will likely lean on separate accessories or cases to let people mount it, similar to how Apple handles the AirTag.

Samsung’s rumored SmartTag 3 is reportedly heading in the same direction by dropping its own attachment hole too.
The listings reportedly tie the accessory to model number GA12506, with the name “Google Pixel Tag” and a color called Fog Light.
Beyond that, details are still thin. We don’t yet know if it’ll include Ultra Wideband for more precise tracking, or whether it runs on a replaceable battery or a rechargeable one. Those are probably the two biggest questions still hanging in the air.
Google Pixel Tag: Find Hub getting an upgrade
One of the retailer listings also gives us a sense of what Google plans to offer. Per 9to5Google’s translation, the description says the Pixel Tag is meant to help people quickly find everyday items like keys, wallets, and luggage through Google’s Find My Device network.
It also mentions a built-in speaker for locating the tag when it’s nearby, along with privacy protections around how location tracking works.

None of that sounds surprising for a modern Bluetooth tracker, but the real story here is what it means for Google’s broader ecosystem.
Find Hub has gotten noticeably better over the past year, and a Google-made tracker would finally give Pixel owners a first-party option instead of relying on other brands.
Google’s Pixel 11 event is set for August 12, so the timing fits well for an announcement. That said, since this is the first real leak we’ve seen on the device, it’s still too early to say whether the Pixel Tag launches alongside the new phones or shows up later. Either way, it looks like Google’s answer to the AirTag is finally close to becoming real.
