Samsung’s SmartTag trackers have mostly stayed locked inside Samsung’s own ecosystem, limiting their appeal if you carry an iPhone instead. That changes with the new Galaxy SmartTag 3, announced today as the first in the lineup to actually work with iPhones.
Alongside that expanded compatibility, the tracker also brings longer battery life, improved range, and smarter alerts.

Samsung’s new tracker comes in 35% smaller and 33% lighter than its predecessor. The replaceable battery lasts up to 550 days under normal use, or 790 days in Power Saving Mode.

Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding provides distance and directional guidance from as far as 60 meters away, and UWB takes over for more precise tracking once you get closer.
Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 and iPhone Users
The real shift here comes through SmartThings Find. iPhone users can now check a tag’s location, share that location with others, and use the Search Nearby feature.

Samsung gives an example scenario: imagine a family member borrowing a suitcase and tracking it from their own Galaxy or iOS device, regardless of which platform they’re on. The catch is that a few features, Compass View, Ring Phone, and Left Behind Alert, remain exclusive to Android and don’t work on iOS.

Samsung also tacked on Place Notification, Location History, and Movement Detection Alert. These features let you know when a tagged item enters or leaves a specific area.
Pet owners get another good reason to pick one up too. The SmartTag 3 can track your pet’s movement, active time, and sleep patterns through SmartThings. Samsung’s Galaxy Find Network, backed by over 900 million participating Galaxy devices, helps locate tags even beyond your own phone’s range.

The SmartTag 3 launches in South Korea on October 7, followed by the US in early November, priced at $29.99 each or $99.99 for a four-pack.
Other markets won’t see it until 2027, a surprisingly limited rollout for Samsung’s first genuinely cross-platform tracker. For households mixing iPhones and Galaxy devices, this is a welcome step forward, though the best features still require a Galaxy device to unlock fully.
Alongside the SmartTag 3, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Tab S12 Plus, built with work, study, and everyday use in mind, plus the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, which gets a thinner design and faster performance without shrinking its large display.
