Streaming devices are getting pricier everywhere right now, and Google’s latest box didn’t escape it either. The Google TV Streamer just jumped from $99 to $149, a jump of 50%, and that new price is already showing up on both the Google Store and Best Buy.
If you have been putting off buying one, now’s the time to move, because a few retailers still haven’t updated their listings to match the new price.
Google TV Streamer price jumps by 50%
Amazon already raised prices across its Echo, Kindle, and Fire TV products, and the Fire TV Stick 4K Max went from $59.99 up to $84.99. Apple made a similar move with the Apple TV 4K, taking the Wi-Fi model from $129 to $199, while the Ethernet version now runs $249. Google is the latest company to follow that pattern.

Google told 9to5Google that rising component costs are behind the price hike, and it’s the same explanation the company gave for the higher price on the Pixel 11 lineup, which launched $100 above what the Pixel 10 cost.
This isn’t just a streaming device problem either. Component shortages have been pushing prices up across tech in general, hitting laptops and game consoles too.
You can still get the Google TV Streamer at its old price
Right now, Amazon still has the Google TV Streamer listed at the original $99 price. That’s a small window for anyone watching their budget, since that listing will probably get updated soon too.
With both boxes costing more now, it makes sense to look at how the Google TV Streamer actually compares to the Apple TV 4K before you pick one. Even with the price increase, Google’s box still costs less than Apple’s, and for a lot of shoppers, that price gap alone will settle the decision.
