JBL is stepping into whole-home wireless audio with its new Cove speaker lineup. The brand built its name on portable Bluetooth speakers and those huge PartyBox units, but now it’s branching out into something different: a modular, Wi-Fi-connected system built to deliver good sound in every room of your house.
JBL Cove Wi-Fi Speakers Built for Every Room
The Cove lineup launches with three speakers, each sized differently so you can pick based on your room and how much you want to move it around. Every model connects over Wi-Fi, handles high-resolution streaming, and works through JBL’s One app, which lets you group speakers and manage them by room without hassle.
The JBL Cove M1 is the starting point. It’s small, but it packs three tweeters and one woofer, plus JBL’s AI Sound Boost tech, which keeps the sound clean even when you push the volume up.
Next is the JBL Cove P1, and this one’s built for flexibility. It runs on battery power, gets up to 14 hours per charge, and supports Dolby Atmos, so it’s a good choice if you want to carry it between rooms or out to the patio.

At the top sits the JBL Cove X1, made for bigger, more open spaces. It comes with four tweeters, two woofers, and Dolby Atmos support, and it puts out the most sound of the three. You can run any of these speakers on their own, or group them together for whole-home audio.
JBL also built in self-tuning, so each speaker adjusts its sound based on where you place it in a room. And if you already own a JBL MK2 soundbar, you can pair Cove speakers with it to use them as wireless rear surround speakers.
On the smart home side, JBL confirmed the Cove speakers will get built-in voice control through Amazon’s Alexa+ assistant. That support arrives later this year in the US through an over-the-air update.
JBL Cove Pricing and Availability
JBL priced the Cove lineup to compete hard against the bigger names in this space. The Cove M1 starts at $230, the Cove P1 costs $400, and the top model, the Cove X1, runs $450. All three come in black or white, and they hit shelves in the US on September 13.
