Sony is updating the budget side of its headphone lineup. The company just launched the WH-CH730N and WH-CH530, which replace the older WH-CH720N and WH-CH520.
We actually got wind of both models back in July, when import paperwork leaked their model numbers along with a few color options. Back then, there was no word on battery life, sound upgrades, or connectivity changes. Sony has now filled in those details.
Sony WH-CH730N now has a big battery upgrade
The WH-CH730N gets up to 50 hours of battery with noise cancellation on and stretches to 75 hours with it off. That’s a big jump from the previous model, which maxed out at 35 hours.
Sony also gave it a foldable design this time, and it still only weighs about 207 grams. Dual Noise Sensor technology handles the noise cancellation, while the Ambient Sound mode, Sony’s name for transparency mode, can be dialed in across 20 different levels. There’s also Adaptive Sound Control, which adjusts those settings automatically based on your surroundings.

On the sound side, you get DSEE, a 10-band equalizer, Game EQ presets, and 360 Reality Audio. Connectivity covers Bluetooth 6.0, LE Audio, Auracast, multipoint pairing, Fast Pair, and Swift Pair.
Sony didn’t skip call quality either. Precise Voice Pickup relies on beamforming microphones and AI processing to isolate your voice, and a reworked microphone setup helps block out wind noise.
Sony WH-CH530 design
The WH-CH530 stays an on-ear design without active noise cancellation. Battery life climbs from 50 hours on the WH-CH520 up to 55 hours, and a quick three-minute charge still gets you 1.5 hours of playback, matching what the older model offered. The WH-CH520 already had multipoint, EQ controls, and DSEE, so those carry over too.

What’s new on the WH-CH530 is Bluetooth 6.0, LE Audio, Auracast, a 10-band EQ, Game EQ, and AI-driven noise reduction for calls. It weighs around 150 grams and comes in Black, Cobalt, Mint, White, Pink, and Coral.
As for pricing, the WH-CH730N runs $179.99, and the WH-CH530 comes in at $69.99. Both go on sale in September through Sony, Amazon, Best Buy, and other retailers. Just keep in mind that the Oat color for the WH-CH730N and the Coral and Mint options for the WH-CH530 are only sold through Sony and Amazon.
