Goldmund has launched its new flagship analogue preamplifier, the Mimesis Statement, at a very high price.

The company rebuilt the preamplifier’s architecture from scratch compared with earlier generations. The new design puts precision and signal integrity at the center of Goldmund’s effort to deliver more faithful music reproduction.

The change starts with a three-chassis layout. The preamp electronics sit in their own chassis, apart from two external power supply units. One power supply serves the left channel and the other serves the right.

The internal architecture is fully symmetrical, which works with that physical split to keep the left and right channels isolated from each other. This gives the audio circuitry stable, low-noise conditions to operate in.

The Statement uses a new generation of power supply electronics. It builds on Goldmund’s discrete regulation principle and adds extra voltage-regulation stages. The brand says this gives it exceptional noise rejection.

After the power stage, a newly developed audio board brings a new architecture and new volume-control management. Both refine how the preamplifier handles the signal through its circuitry.

Goldmund also made two more engineering changes. It uses proprietary internal wiring and optimised heat dissipation. The wiring limits interference, and the heat management keeps the electronics running under optimal conditions.

The published measurements reflect those changes. Frequency response runs from 0.2Hz to 1.5MHz (±3dB), and THD+N is 0.0002% from unbalanced input to unbalanced output.

Intermodulation distortion is just as low, at 0.0006% IMD+N on the same unbalanced path. The signal-to-noise ratio is above 130dB on line input and above 138dB when A-weighted.

Goldmund calls the Mimesis Statement its most advanced analogue preamplifier to date. The design focuses on transparency and signal integrity, so the dynamics, nuances, and character of a recording pass through with minimal change.

For connections, the preamplifier has two Trigger Out ports that switch between 0V and 12V. They let it control the operating state of two compatible power amplifiers at the same time.

The look has been refreshed with a new cover glass display and metal-coated front-panel controls. A fine recessed gold line runs across all three chassis. It ties together units that Goldmund keeps separate on purpose, each with its own function. The price is extremely high. The Mimesis Statement costs $240,000.

Final Thoughts

The Goldmund Mimesis Statement is built for a very small group of buyers. At $240,000, you pay for a three-chassis design, dual external power supplies, and measurements that include THD+N of 0.0002% and a signal-to-noise ratio above 138dB A-weighted.

Few people will ever own one. For those who do, Goldmund promises a preamplifier that passes the music through with as little change as possible.
