Outdoor security cameras are not always practical if you live in an apartment or a rental. Drilling into an exterior wall may be off-limits. Pointing a regular indoor camera through a window brings its own problem, because reflections start to show up after dark.

Baseus wants to fix both issues with the new PrimeSentinel W1, a $69.99 security camera built to watch the outdoors through glass.
It mounts straight onto a window with no drilling. It uses a 4K Starlight sensor with an F1.0 aperture, so you get full-color monitoring during the day and at night.
Baseus PrimeSentinel W1 with Adjustable View
The W1 attaches with reusable nano adhesive and a magnetic mount, so you do not need to drill into a wall or window frame. Baseus says installation takes about 30 seconds.

You can also adjust the camera after it is up, so you do not have to peel off the mount and stick it on again. It moves 13 degrees in either horizontal direction and 25 degrees vertically. The lens has a 130-degree field of view, which stretches to up to 156 degrees of horizontal coverage once you add the mount’s adjustment range.
Magnets on both sides hold the camera to the mount. You can pull the W1 off, flip it around, and snap it back on with the lens facing the other way. That lets the same camera watch the outdoors through the window one day and the room indoors the next, without moving the mount.
Baseus PrimeSentinel W1 and the Usual Night-vision Problem
Infrared night vision often bounces off window glass and ruins the image. The W1 avoids that problem with a 4K Starlight sensor and an F1.0 aperture, which give you full-color monitoring at night.
An anti-reflection design also helps cut down glare. The companion app sends you alerts when it detects activity.

The camera supports 24/7 continuous recording and microSD cards up to 512GB. It works on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. It is wired for power, so you still need an outlet nearby. The PrimeSentinel W1 is on sale in the U.S. today, and European availability follows on October 20.
