When you hear “big home battery,” you probably picture a heavy box bolted to a garage wall. Anker wants to change that by adding wheels. The new Anker SOLIX S5000 is a portable power station with a 5,024Wh capacity and 4,500W of rated output. It supports both 120V and 240V, and it comes with built-in wheels and a telescoping handle.

Anker says one unit can run a set of essential household devices for 48 hours during a power outage. If you need more, extra batteries can scale the system from 5kWh up to 30kWh.
The official images show how it is meant to be used. You can roll the S5000 from a home office to a garage setup, so it does not have to stay in one spot in your house.

Anker credits much of that runtime to OptiSave 2.0. The company says it reaches up to 96% efficiency under a 1,000W light load and cuts idle power draw to 8.8W in 120V mode. Anker has used the same technology in other portable power stations.
In Anker’s own tests, a refrigerator, Wi-Fi router, coffee maker, lights, and a phone ran together for 48 hours. The refrigerator alone lasted up to 86 hours. A window air conditioner ran for up to 25 hours.

Inside, the S5000 uses 314Ah lithium iron phosphate cells rated for up to 10,000 cycles. Anker estimates a service life of up to 15 years under specific conditions. You also get a five-year warranty and an A+ Runtime rating from TÜV SÜD.
The output is high enough for heavier equipment. Rated power is 4,500W with an 8,000W peak. The 240V connection can run compatible furnaces, well pumps, ranges, and water heaters. A 10ms UPS switchover protects compatible electronics when the power cuts out.

Anker SOLIX S5000 Portable Power Station Portability
Portability is a major selling point. The S5000 weighs 97 pounds and fits into a 58-liter chassis. Anker says that makes it 28% lighter and 45% smaller by volume than some competing 5kWh models. The wheels and telescoping handle should make that weight much easier to manage.

Charging is fast if you have the right source. Connect it to a 4,500W, 240V supply and Anker says a full recharge takes 99 minutes. Solar input maxes out at 3,000W.
The Anker SOLIX S5000 goes on sale October 27 at a launch price of $2,499.99. It will later move to its regular price of $3,599.99.
It joins the rest of Anker’s SOLIX home backup lineup. We also reviewed the SOLIX E10 back in April.
