Arlo just unveiled its new Essential Solar Security Camera, a budget-friendly outdoor option built to solve the biggest headache with wireless security cameras: constantly recharging batteries.
Priced at $99.99, the camera pairs a built-in solar panel with a sizable internal battery, aiming for genuinely low-maintenance coverage all year round.
Arlo Essential Solar Security Camera Provides Continuous Power and Sharp Resolution
The Essential Solar Security Camera’s main draw comes down to its top-mounted 1.2W solar panel. Arlo claims just two hours of direct sunlight daily is enough to keep the camera continuously charged.
For overcast stretches or dreary winter months, a substantial 14,790mAh internal battery backs things up, capable of keeping the camera running for up to six months on a single full charge.
None of this efficiency comes at the cost of visual quality either. The camera captures 2L video at 24 frames per second across a wide 130-degree field of view. A built-in white LED spotlight enables color night vision, and dual-band Wi-Fi support keeps video streaming smooth with reliable connectivity throughout.
Arlo Essential Solar Security Camera Weatherproof Design and Simple Integrations
Built for outdoor use, the camera carries an IP65 weather-resistance rating, handling rain, snow, heat, and cold without issue. Setup stays fairly simple too, thanks to a flexible three-hole mounting bracket that works well on siding, eaves, or fence posts.
