Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 embraced a shorter, wider design this year, and Apple’s iPhone Duo appears headed in a similar direction with its book-style foldable shape.
After years of tall, narrow foldables dominating the market, recent launches have shifted toward wider proportions instead. Xiaomi joined that trend too with its new Xiaomi 18 Fold.
Vivo, though, is sticking with the taller tradition. The Vivo X Fold 6 is officially going global now, roughly three months after its original debut in China. It keeps the familiar proportions established by Vivo’s previous foldables, including a 6.51-inch cover display with a tall 20.31:9 aspect ratio that unfolds into a nearly square 8.02-inch inner screen.
Vivo X Fold 6 With 200MP Camera
Unlike the Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo, Vivo sticks much closer to the shape book-style foldables have used for years. You’re getting that taller profile here, not the shorter, wider foldables that have been dominating headlines lately. It might look like Vivo’s falling behind at first glance, until you actually dig into the spec sheet.

Both displays on the X Fold6 use LTPO technology with adaptive refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, plus up to 5,000 nits of local peak brightness. The Prism Black model measures just 4.4mm unfolded and 9.4mm folded, weighing only 228 grams, impressively light given its form factor. That’s not even the most impressive part.

Despite that slim body, Vivo managed to pack in a massive 6,900mAh silicon-anode battery, supporting 80W wired and 40W wireless charging. A custom MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition handles performance, delivering genuine flagship-level power even though it’s not technically the newest chip available.
What I Expect in Vivo X Fold 6
Samsung undoubtedly builds some of the best foldable phones on the market. From software polish to hardware refinement, the Galaxy Z lineup has matured significantly over the years.
Even so, I’d happily hand the crown for best foldable cameras over to Vivo. I tested the Vivo X Fold 5 last year, and the camera system genuinely impressed me. With improvements made to the cameras this time around, that experience should get even better.

The main camera relies on a 200MP 1/1.4-inch Samsung HPB sensor, backed by OIS and Zeiss T* coating. Alongside it sits a 50MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto capable of macro photography, plus 20MP selfie cameras on both the cover and inner displays.
OriginOS 7 Fold leans heavily into that massive inner display too, offering an Origin Workbench that displays one primary app alongside four smaller windows simultaneously, plus four-way split-screen multitasking and cross-app drag-and-drop functionality.
Unfortunately, Vivo hasn’t announced global pricing or detailed availability yet, saying those specifics will depend on individual markets as the rollout continues.
