Smart revealed the all-electric Smart #2 at the Paris Motor Show. That is the same stage where the brand showed its first two-seater concept 30 years ago.
The new car keeps the small size that made the original Fortwo a favorite in cities, and it fixes the biggest weakness of that car. You get nearly double the range, along with fast charging to match.
Is Smart #2 better than its predecessor?
The Smart #2 uses a 35.8 kWh LFP battery with a target of up to 290 km of combined WLTP range. That is more than double what the old EQ Fortwo got from its 17.6 kWh pack. DC fast charging peaks at 65 kW, which takes the battery from 10% to 80% in about 20 minutes.

Smart #2 AC charging goes up to 11 kW. The base Pure trim comes with a 7.4 kW onboard charger instead. A separate adapter, sold alone, adds vehicle-to-load support, so the car can power outside devices when you need it.

For safety, the car has the Tridion Cell Evo structure, Smart Pilot Assist, and adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go and Highway Assist.
Smart #2 Features
At 2.746 meters long, the #2 is only slightly longer than the car it replaces. It keeps the same layout with a wheel at each corner. The turning circle is a tight 6.95 meters, which should help you get around crowded streets and fit into smaller parking spaces.
The car sits on Smart’s new Electric Compact Architecture. A 60 kW motor at the rear produces 130 Nm of torque. Smart says it is the first car in its class with a five-link rear suspension, which is meant to improve handling and ride comfort.

Inside, you get a 10.1-inch touchscreen in the center and an 8.8-inch display behind the wheel. The seats follow a bench-style layout. The Smart Pillar holds small accessories. Connected services run on 4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and the car comes with an eight-year connectivity package.
Smart #2 EV price and availability
Smart has priced the #2 across four trims in Germany, France, and Italy. Here is what each one costs:
Pure costs €19,990 (about $22,310), and Pure+ is priced at €20,990 (about $23,425) with 11 kW AC charging and a heated driver seat.
Premium costs €24,490 (about $27,331). Adds a glass roof, heated faux-leather seats, and a 7-speaker Sennheiser system. The Couture Edition costs €25,690 (about $28,670) and is limited to 999 units in Europe.
Early orders open tomorrow, and deliveries start in 2027. The #2 still seats only two people, while rivals at similar prices can carry four.
Whether it suits you depends on what you value more. If easy parking and sharp turning matter most in your daily driving, the #2 makes sense. If you need room for extra passengers, you may want to look elsewhere.
