Red Magic has launched the Red Magic 12 Pro+ in China, adding another round of hardware upgrades to its gaming phone lineup. The new model has a faster display and a large 8,400mAh battery. Its cooling system is updated too, with RGB lighting added to the liquid-cooling hardware.

If you live outside China, you will get the phone under a different name. Red Magic says it will launch globally as the Red Magic 12 Pro. Pricing, regional configurations, and availability details are due on November 3. The global version may also differ from the China model in some specifications.

Red Magic 12 Pro+ Cooling a Major Focus

Like the Red Magic 11S Pro before it, the 12 Pro+ puts heavy focus on keeping the processor cool during long gaming sessions. It uses an updated AquaCore Cooling System that combines liquid cooling, a vapor chamber, graphene-based thermal materials, and a fan that spins at up to 25,500 RPM.

The circular liquid-cooling module on the back now has built-in RGB lighting, and it can react to what happens in your game. Red Magic also says its dual-crystal micro-pump delivers 85% more pumping power than last generation’s. That helps cool the biggest heat sources, such as the CPU and the battery.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 handles the main processing. Red Magic’s RedCore R5 gaming chip sits alongside it. That chip supports frame interpolation, resolution enhancement, and ray tracing in compatible games.

Red Magic 12 Pro+ Display

The phone has a 185Hz BOE display with the front camera hidden under the panel, so you get a screen with no notch and no punch-hole. The capacitive shoulder triggers run at 700Hz, and touch sampling reaches up to 5,000Hz.

The battery is upgraded to 8,400mAh, which is 12% more than the last generation. It charges at 120W over a cable and 80W wirelessly. Bypass charging sends power straight to the system during supported gaming sessions.

In China, the Red Magic 12 Pro+ starts at 6,999 yuan (about $1,046) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The 16GB RAM models cost 7,999 yuan (about $1,195) with 512GB of storage and 8,999 yuan (about $1,345) with 1TB.

Nightfreeze and Subzero are available at launch. Skyfrost arrives later this year. If you buy outside China, you must wait until November 3 to learn which configurations and colors carry over to the Red Magic 12 Pro.
