Ever since the Galaxy Z Fold 8 launched, there’s been a real appetite among enthusiasts for smaller, more pocketable phones. This isn’t just nostalgia talking either. I’ve spent weeks using Samsung’s compact foldable, and the reason I keep reaching for it comes down to something simple: it’s genuinely comfortable to hold and slides into a pocket easily.

So what happens if a regular candybar phone tried capturing that same feel? Huawei apparently decided to find out.

Huawei Pura X View

The company’s newest release is the Pura X View, built around a wide 16:9.5 aspect ratio aimed at delivering a broader, more compact footprint. Judging by the press images, it looks genuinely handy and comfortable in the hand.

Don’t let the size fool you, though; this phone appears to pack real capability. Huawei hasn’t released a full spec sheet yet, but a few standout details are already available on its website.

The display runs at 2232 x 1320 resolution, with peak brightness climbing to an impressive 6500 nits, nearly double what most premium phones offer today. Bezels stay thin and consistent all around too, with Huawei claiming a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio on the Pura X View.

Weighing in at 201 grams, the phone still manages a slim 6.65mm profile despite the wider form factor, thinner than the iPhone 17 Pro’s 8.75mm waistline, for reference. That thin body still houses a substantial 7,000mAh battery, and going by Huawei’s track record, it’s a safe bet this phone supports fast wired and wireless charging too.

Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but the phone will launch in four colors across three storage configurations, each paired with 12GB of RAM. The catch is software: it runs HarmonyOS 7, and there’s very little chance Huawei brings this one outside the Chinese market.
