Chinese phone makers have packed many camera launches into a single week. Vivo opened with the video-focused X500 Pro Max. Oppo answered with the Find X10 Pro Max and its three 200MP cameras, and Xiaomi followed a day later with the 18 Pro Max.
Honor is the newest to join in with the Magic 9 Pro Max, which borrows camera technology the company built with ARRI for its unconventional Robot Phone.
Honor Magic 9 Pro Max comes with two 200MP cameras and ARRI’s cinema color
The Magic 9 Pro Max has a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, an f/1.57 aperture, and OIS. Next to it sits a 200MP telephoto with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and an f/2.6 aperture, plus a 50MP ultrawide.
The layout mirrors the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, but Honor pulls ahead on stabilization. Both 200MP cameras hold a CIPA 8.0 rating, one step above the CIPA 7.0 that Xiaomi and Vivo list for their newest phones. The main camera also offers 3-degree gimbal-level stabilization.
Like Vivo, Honor puts a heavy focus on video here. The phone carries over the ARRI Cinema mode from the Robot Phone, and it records in ARRI’s LogC3 curve with 10-bit color and the ARRI Wide Gamut 3 color space. Honor built in 14 preset ARRI Looks, and ARRI’s Look Library gives you access to 87 in total.

Honor also sells a few accessories aimed at creators, including a SmallRig mobile video kit and two teleconverters, the G200 and G500. On the front, you get a 55MP selfie camera paired with a 3D depth-sensing camera. A four-microphone array captures directional audio while you record.
Honor Magic 9 Pro Max comes with an 8,800mAh battery
Honor’s Magic 9 Pro Max runs on Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the same chip you will find in the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Honor adds its own H1 imaging chip and offers up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The phone ships with MagicOS 11, built on Android 17.
Battery size is where Honor takes a clear lead. The 8,800mAh cell beats the 8,500mAh battery in the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, the 8,000mAh in the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max, and the 7,800mAh in the Vivo X500 Pro Max.
Charging reaches 100W wired and 80W wireless. That wireless speed sits well above all three rivals, though you need Honor’s own SuperCharge wireless charger to get it. Even with the big battery, the phone stays at 8.59mm thick and weighs 233g.

The 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display runs at 1320 x 2868 resolution with a 1-120Hz refresh rate. Honor claims peak brightness of 10,000 nits and 4,320Hz PWM dimming, and an anti-reflective coating cuts glare. The phone holds IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance, and it comes in Shadow Black, Glacier Silver, and Moss Green.
In China, the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max costs 6,499 RMB (about $968) for the base 16GB+256GB model. The top 16GB+1TB version goes for 8,499 RMB (about $1,266). Honor has not announced international pricing or availability yet.
