Sony just dropped a new pair of limited edition earbuds, and this time they’ve teamed up with Hatsune Miku, the hugely popular virtual pop star.
These LinkBuds Fit Hatsune Miku Limited Edition earbuds are more than just the buds themselves. You get a whole bundle of Miku-themed goodies that fans are going to love.
One of the highlights is a special acrylic stand for your earbuds featuring adorable artwork by the illustrator 荻pote.
If you look closely at the design, you’ll actually see Miku herself wearing a pair of LinkBuds Fit; it’s such a sweet little detail.
But it doesn’t stop there. The bundle also includes codes that unlock a digital Hatsune Miku model and access to a virtual performance of the song “Believe Day.”

You can watch the whole performance in augmented reality using the HoloModels smartphone app, which is pretty cool if you’re into that kind of immersive experience.
The song itself was actually made specifically for this Sony collaboration. It features music and lyrics by HarryP, a big name in the Vocaloid world, and was originally created when this partnership launched in Japan last summer.

Now, if you’re like me and will basically buy anything with “Hatsune Miku” stamped on it, this is obviously exciting news. But here’s the thing: aside from all those bonus goodies, these limited edition earbuds don’t actually seem any different from the regular LinkBuds Fit.

You’re getting them in the standard green color, which at least matches Miku’s iconic bright green hair, to make a nice touch. But at $249.99, compared to the usual price of $179 in the US, and £179 in the UK.
I honestly would’ve expected something more. Maybe a special design or decal on the earbuds themselves, or at least something on the case to make them stand out visually. As it is, they look pretty much identical to the regular version.
That said, if you do decide to splurge on this limited edition, you’re at least getting a good pair of earbuds for your money.
We actually think they’re among the best workout headphones you can buy right now. You could definitely pick worse headphones to blast “World is Mine” through while you’re hitting the weights at the gym.
If you’re interested, the limited-edition earbuds are available now, but only on Sony’s official website.
