Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 8.5 beta, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the latest device to receive it. The update is built on Android 16’s QPR2 release, which has been the subject of leaks and speculation for several months leading up to this point.
The beta is currently limited to two regions, which are India and South Korea. The download is 4.2GB, so it’s worth being on a stable connection before starting. As reported by Tarun Vats on X, the South Korean build carries firmware version F966NKSU8ZZC5, while the Indian version is labelled F966BXXU8ZZC5. Both builds include the February 2026 security patch.

No wider rollout has been announced yet, so users in other regions will need to wait for Samsung to expand the programme before they can access the beta.

The One UI 8.5 update brings a new interface along with new additions to Samsung’s Galaxy AI feature set. Samsung hasn’t published a full breakdown of every change yet, but the update is expected to refine the visual design across the board while expanding the AI-powered tools available on supported devices.
Progress on the stable release is moving forward. Samsung pushed out the seventh One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy S25 series earlier, which is a strong sign that the company is getting close to finalising the build.
Beta programmes typically don’t run this many iterations unless a stable release is approaching, so Galaxy S25 and Z Fold 7 owners shouldn’t have to wait too long before the full update arrives.
If you’re in India or South Korea and want to join the beta, the sign-up process runs through the Samsung Members app.

Log in with the Samsung account linked to your device, look for the beta programme banner, and register from there. Once enrolled, the update shows up through the standard Settings, Software Update, Download and install path.
Before signing up, it’s worth keeping in mind that this is an early build. Samsung flags that bugs, performance issues, and stability problems are possible.
If the Z Fold 7 is your primary device and you depend on it running reliably day to day, waiting for the stable release is the safer choice. Beta builds are best suited for people who are comfortable troubleshooting occasional issues in exchange for early access to new features.
