Samsung just announced a Galaxy Z Flip7 model created specifically for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. This version won’t hit retail stores. The company will give these phones only to athletes participating in the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Nearly 3,800 Olympians and Paralympians from approximately 90 countries will receive the device. Samsung designed this phone to work as essential equipment during the Games. Athletes will use it to manage daily life in the Olympic Village and capture their experiences.

Starting January 30, Samsung will distribute the phones at Olympic Villages in six cities. The company will set up Open Station locations where athletes can get hands-on support. These stations will handle phone activation, data transfers, and technical issues.
The phone serves a practical purpose beyond regular communication. Athletes need reliable technology to coordinate schedules, connect with teammates, and document their Olympic journey. Samsung said this device is part of the official Games equipment rather than a promotional item.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition: Design and Features
Samsung built this phone to feel like something athletes will want to keep. The back panel comes in a special blue that matches the Milano Cortina 2026 branding and references the traditional Italian azure color.
A gold metal frame wraps around the edges as a nod to medal ceremonies. Athletes will also get a clear magnetic case with a blue circle surrounded by gold laurel leaves.
The phone has practical features tailored for athletes on the move. Samsung equipped it with an edge-to-edge FlexWindow and Galaxy AI tools that work with one hand. This matters when you’re carrying gear or standing in cold weather.
The camera setup includes two rear lenses, which are a 50MP wide camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. Photo Assist uses AI to let you move objects around in photos, remove unwanted elements, zoom in on details, or adjust compositions after you take the shot.

The phone comes with a standout feature, the Olympic setting. This is a built-in Interpreter that works entirely on the device, translating conversations in real time without needing internet access.
This becomes valuable in mountain venues where cell signals drop or data connections slow down. Athletes can communicate across language barriers even in remote competition sites.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition
Samsung packed the phone with services designed to make daily life easier during the Games. Athletes get free connectivity through a 100GB 5G eSIM.
Samsung Wallet has digital passes and various services, including a Coca-Cola Free Beverage Key that unlocks drinks at vending machines throughout the Olympic Villages.
The phone comes with tools that focus on athlete connection and planning. Galaxy Athlete Card lets athletes share their profiles and participate in interactive activities with other competitors.
Athlete365 provides performance tracking and mental health resources, and it connects with Now Brief to deliver competition schedules and real-time updates.
Samsung preloaded several apps that athletes will actually use. The official Olympic Games app gives access to event information and results. The IOC Hotline provides direct support when problems come up.

PinQuest helps with the traditional pin trading culture at the Olympics. It has a fitness app that tracks workouts and analyzes training sessions using the exercise equipment available in the Villages.
These apps aren’t random add-ons. Each service works for a specific need that athletes face during the Games. Free data means you can stay connected without worrying about roaming charges.
Digital wallet integration means fewer physical cards to carry. The fitness app works with Village gym equipment, so athletes can maintain their training routines between events.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 for Milano Cortina 2026 Athletes
Samsung plans to use this phone as part of the medal ceremonies. The Z Flip7 will power Victory Selfie moments on the podium, a feature appearing at the Winter Games for the first time at Milano Cortina 2026.
This year, team sports will be included in the Victory Selfie setup, so you’ll see larger group photos with multiple athletes celebrating together.
Samsung hasn’t said anything about selling this version to the public later. The Olympic edition appears to be exclusive to athletes at these Games.

If you want access to similar features, your best bet is watching which software tools from this phone make their way to regular Galaxy devices after the Olympics end.
Some of the AI features, translation tools, and camera functions could show up in future consumer models.
Samsung often tests new software at the Olympics before rolling it out more widely. The special design and Olympic branding will likely stay limited to this athlete edition.
