Google seems to be copying Apple’s strategy to add a useful new feature for Pixel Watch users. The company is developing its own version of Apple’s “Notify When Left Behind” feature, which alerts users when they accidentally leave their iPhone behind.

Samsung already offers a similar disconnection alert on Galaxy Watch models. It notifies users when their Galaxy phone disconnects from the watch. According to Android Authority, the Pixel Watch will be the next to get this feature.

While examining a system app, the publication found new code for a feature in development called “Notify when left behind.” As the name suggests, the feature will send a notification to your Pixel Watch when you leave your connected phone behind.

The code shows that the feature requires a few things to work. The Pixel Watch must be on your wrist, and both the watch and the phone must have Bluetooth turned on. Once you enable the feature, it will also automatically lock your phone when it disconnects from the watch.

The report also says users can disable the alert when they’re in a trusted location. This stops unnecessary notifications when you’re at home, work, or other familiar places. The feature may not be available on all Pixel Watch models, though it’s unclear which devices will get it.

Newer models like the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 3 will most likely get the feature through a Wear OS update. For now, wait for Google to confirm the full details when the feature is ready to launch.
