Guerrilla Games is making a new Horizon game called Horizon Hunters Gathering. This one focuses on co-op action instead of the solo experience you got in previous Horizon titles. You can play it on PS5 and PC.
The game puts you in a three-person squad that hunts machines together. You need to think tactically, assign roles quickly, and survive when the machines attack in groups. Quick decisions matter because the situation changes fast during hunts.
Guerrilla plans to run a small closed playtest at the end of February. You can sign up through the PlayStation Beta Program. The test runs on both PS5 and PC, so you can try it on either platform.
When the full game launches, you can play with friends on different platforms. PS5 players can team up with PC players through cross-play. Your progress carries over between both platforms if you use the same PlayStation account.
Guerrilla hasn’t announced a release date or price. The February playtest gives you the first real chance to see if the combat stays interesting over time. You’ll know soon whether the hunting mechanics hold up in a co-op format.
Horizon Hunters Gathering Modes
Machine Incursion is the fast mode. You face waves of machines that come up through underground gateways. The mission ends with a boss fight that destroys teams who don’t work together or waste their abilities too early.
Cauldron Descent takes longer to complete. Your team moves through several stages, with fights getting harder as you go. You’ll find optional paths that offer better gear and rewards. But these side routes come with a cost. You get more loot, face tougher enemies, and risk failing the entire run.

You can try both modes during the closed playtest in February. The test runs on PS5 and PC, so pick whichever platform you prefer.
Horizon Hunters Gathering Hunters and Perks
You can’t create your own character. Instead, you choose from a roster of pre-made Hunters. Each Hunter specializes in either melee or ranged combat and uses specific weapons.
You then pick a role and use a rogue-lite perk system that changes your build every time you play. This setup works well for co-op because each player has a clear job to do.

Guerrilla built a full campaign that fits into the official Horizon timeline. The game introduces new threats and mysteries, but the studio hasn’t revealed details yet. The story continues after launch, which means you’ll get more missions and plot developments down the line.
After each hunt, you return to Hunters Gathering. This social hub lets you customize your Hunter, buy items from vendors, upgrade your gear, and prepare for the next mission. Think of it as your base between runs, where you handle all the preparation work.
