Honor is getting ready to introduce a new battery technology with its upcoming Silicon-Carbon Blade Battery. The company released a teaser giving the first look at the new power unit, and the design does not look like anything standard in the industry right now.

The teaser video features a battery as thin as a playing card, thrown through the air by a Guinness World Record-holding card thrower.

The stunt puts two things on display, which is how thin the battery actually is and how well it holds up under pressure, since it cuts through pieces of fruit mid-flight without any visible damage.

Honor has not released full specifications yet, but the company says the Silicon-Carbon Blade Battery carries higher silicon content and greater capacity than the fifth-generation silicon-carbon battery planned for the Honor Magic V6.

The battery was developed with a Chinese manufacturer called ATL, which reportedly uses 25% silicon content and offers a 6,600mAh capacity without adding any thickness to the device.

To put that in perspective, last year’s Magic V5, which held the title of thinnest foldable at the time, came with a 5,820mAh silicon-carbon battery.

Moving to 6,600mAh represents a good year-over-year gain. It would also give the Magic V6 a measurable advantage over competing book-style foldables.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes with a 4,400mAh battery, and the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold houses a 5,015mAh cell, both of which fall well short of what Honor is targeting with the Magic V6.

If Honor manages to fit a 6,600mAh battery into an ultra-thin body, the Magic V6 could set a new standard for battery life in the foldable category without making any compromises on the physical design.

The phone is set to debut at Honor’s MWC keynote on March 1, where the company will also share more details about the Silicon-Carbon Blade Battery.
